DENIM LEGENDS
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE OLDEST JEANS IN THE WORLD?
DENIM LEGENDS, the latest book from WeAr Global Magazine, shows for the first time a photo of the legendary Levis 1870 jeans – and what has happened in the 137 years since this ingenious idea was created.
All of the most important and successful labels and brands with their typical models and looks are presented on over 400 pages. The classics, the fashion highlights, front and back views of jeans, jackets and skirts as well as labels, buttons, embroidery, applications, pockets and many other details. Even the weaves and other special features, including treatments, are brought to light in extremely high-quality and generously sized photos.
Publisher Klaus Vogel:
"Those who know nothing about the past can't possibly design for the future. Denim Legends is a unique, non-commercial compendium about the most interesting jeans in history - from the first Levi's to the premium labels of today - labels like Citizens Of Humanity, 7 for all mankind, Replay and others. Readers will feel as though they are able to actually touch these rare collectors pieces in this limited edition of only 2,500 copies, because the photos are printed in such top-quality. It is guaranteed that no second edition will be published. Therefore the book will not only become a "must have" for collectors as well as denim and jeans lovers, but also a timeless source of inspiration for modern jeans design."
The book begins with a detailed introduction to the history of jeans and is divided into five chapters, each dedicated to a specific "Jeans Epoch": 1870 – 1929, 1930 – 1959, 1960 – 1979, 1980 – 1999 and 2000+. Due to the excellent images the chapters need very little explanatory text. Simply at the beginning of each chapter the names and slogans from fashion, culture, science and politics of the respective period are consolidated into an attractive typographic layout. An index at the back of the book contains contact details of the mentioned labels.
DENIM LEGENDS is published by WeAr Global Magazine in co-operation with Cobrax and Cone Denim.
