TREND UNION LIFESTYLE - Design & Interiors 2027

EVERY ROOM WILL BE A LIVING ROOM

— was the answer that flapped out of me when I was recently asked at a roundtable what the future of the living room would be? Afterwards, I reflected on that impromptu response and understood I was on to something; and that, as always, my intuition had done its job, precisely forecasting the state of future interiors.

Even without me knowing it yet. Surprising me in the right sense…

To understand further, I assembled arguments to interpret my instinctive reply. It was a natural progression of the trends from recent decades, when room after room was rediscovered and redesigned, from the kitchen to the bathroom to the bedroom and even the outdoors, with the garden becoming an extra living room.

This notion makes sense at a time when design isn’t a top priority, just busy finetuning already existing directions, with evermore refined and embellished products, in perpetual movement, elevating the revival of arts and crafts.

Lacking innovation, we live in evolutionary times. This idea also seems to reflect the culmination of the acquired tastes of the cultural collector that have replaced those of everyday consumers, taking extreme care of their choices, accumulating furniture and objects with curatorial fervour. Turning their homes into a museum house. And it personally spoke to me as a creative person, while noticing how precise aesthetic choices can make my own life more worthwhile, giving depth to everyday experiences, creating pockets of happiness and fulfilment.

So, I started to compile impressions of this thesis, bringing together interior design and product design, attempting to make these ideas palpable and irresistible.

Making them come to life.

And indeed, this trend forecast argues that all rooms will become living rooms, whether it is the walk-in cupboard or the water closet, the entrance hall or the windowsill, the hobby hub or the family room, the lounge patio or the swimming pool.

Since the sky is the limit of our imagination, people will want to live in small niches and decorative doorways, in a private boudoir or an esoteric bureau, in a live-in kitchen or a competitive playroom. Families and friends will adore.

Giving life to all spaces, making life an exceptional style.
